The British Council is the UK’s largest charity, operating in over 110 countries worldwide with a turnover in excess of £1 billion. Denise will present an overview of the history, structure and purpose of the British Council globally and a look at some of their present day activities around the world and in the Czech Republic as well as sharing some personal highlights from her career.
Denise Waddingham has over 25 years’ international experience in Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East; as an EFL teacher, Director of Studies and Senior Teacher and in senior management roles with the British Council for the past 15 years. Denise has served for the British Council in Slovakia, Burma, Nigeria, Kuwait, Egypt and Tunisia and took up her current post as Country Director for the British Council in the Czech Republic in September 2017.
Denise graduated from Brunel University in London with a BA (Hons) in English Literature and American Studies and she also has a Postgraduate diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
She is passionate about education and promoting cultural relations between the UK and other countries.
